I saw a segment by a well known writer on money on CNBC. She said that money is like a relationship, that like a relationship, if you weren't getting what you want out of an investment you should just get out of it.
I thought she was stretching for a way to illustrate her point and revealed a perverse utilitarian perspective about people in her life that is probably all too common.
Sure some people do treat relationship, whether business or personal, as disposable as their money and possessions.
What might better make her point is to reverse it - some people treat investments like they treat relationships but they are not the same! They develop fondness or affection for particular investments and hold onto them when they shouldn't. A relationship, not an investment, is what they should work on, develop, and value even when things are rough or looking bad.
Anyway ... weird the "expertise" that makes it onto TV with the authority it conveys.
He rocked like a rocker, had time for the down and out, communicated sensitive lyrics in a manly way, put out some great music in his final years, and knew how to wear black: Johnny Cash.
